MX lookup: common questions
What is an MX record?
A DNS record that names the servers accepting email for a domain, each with a priority — lower numbers are tried first.
Why does a domain have no MX?
It may not receive email at all, or it relies on its A record. Domains that publish a null MX explicitly refuse mail.
Can I look up an email address?
Type one in and we use only the domain part — the address itself is never sent.
